Job Description
Brand Marketing Manager
About the Company
Solis Recruitment has partnered with a growing consumer electronics business operating a portfolio of own-brand products alongside several established multi-brand ecommerce websites.
The business is continuing to invest in its brands and marketing capabilities as it enters its next phase of growth, creating an opportunity for an experienced Brand Marketing Manager to help shape how its brands are positioned, promoted and brought to life across the market.
This is a newly created role with a strong focus on brand marketing, PR, social media, partnerships, events and campaign activation. You’ll take the lead on developing outward-facing marketing activity that builds awareness, strengthens customer engagement and creates greater visibility for the brands.
Working closely with ecommerce, paid media, CRM, design and wider teams, you’ll ensure brand activity is connected to the broader commercial strategy without becoming a primarily performance or ecommerce-led position.
The remit has deliberately been left relatively broad. The business is looking for someone with the ideas, energy and experience to identify opportunities, shape the marketing plan and help evolve the role as the brands continue to grow.
About the Role
This is a broad Brand Marketing Manager opportunity for someone who enjoys building brands and turning ideas into campaigns, partnerships and activations that customers actually see and engage with.
You’ll take ownership of the brand marketing calendar across a portfolio of brands, developing integrated activity across PR, organic social, affiliate and brand partnerships, events, content, product launches, retail and trade activity.
You’ll collaborate with specialist teams across ecommerce, CRM and paid media to ensure campaigns are amplified effectively and deliver against wider commercial objectives.
A major part of the opportunity will be identifying new ways to increase awareness and consideration. That could mean developing PR opportunities around a product launch, creating a social campaign, building relationships with affiliates or external partners, activating at an event, or developing a campaign that brings several channels together.
You’ll also manage and develop a small marketing team, alongside building strong relationships with agencies, suppliers, retail partners and other external stakeholders.
As a newly created position, there is genuine scope for the successful person to shape the role, influence how the marketing function develops and build out activity that does not currently exist.
Key Responsibilities
-
Develop and deliver the brand marketing strategy and campaign calendar across multiple consumer brands.
-
Create integrated brand campaigns that build awareness, consideration, engagement and ultimately contribute to commercial growth.
-
Lead PR and communications activity, identifying stories, product opportunities and campaigns that increase brand visibility across relevant media and audiences.
-
Develop the brands’ social media presence, particularly organic social, working with internal creative resource and external partners to create engaging campaigns and content.
-
Identify and develop affiliate, brand and commercial partnerships that introduce the brands to new audiences and create mutually beneficial marketing opportunities.
-
Plan and activate events, exhibitions, trade activity, sponsorship opportunities, experiential campaigns and other offline brand initiatives.
-
Lead marketing activity around new product launches, ensuring clear positioning, messaging and coordinated campaigns across relevant channels.
-
Develop campaign concepts and activations that can work across PR, social, partnerships, content, retail and digital channels.
-
Build relationships with retailers, affiliates, agencies, media partners, suppliers and other external stakeholders to create new opportunities for the brands.
-
Coordinate the development of sales, retail, trade and marketing collateral, working closely with the in-house design team.
-
Own and evolve brand positioning, messaging and storytelling, ensuring consistency across campaigns and customer-facing touchpoints.
-
Work closely with ecommerce, CRM and paid media teams to ensure brand campaigns are supported and amplified across performance channels.
-
Manage marketing agencies and external suppliers, ensuring activity is delivered effectively and represents the brands appropriately.
-
Manage and develop a small marketing team, establishing clear priorities while encouraging creativity, collaboration and accountability.
-
Track the effectiveness of campaigns and marketing investment, combining commercial data with measures such as reach, engagement, PR coverage, partnership performance and brand awareness.
-
Continually identify new channels, partnerships, audiences and creative opportunities that can accelerate brand growth.
About You
We’re looking for someone who is a brand marketer first rather than someone whose experience has predominantly been focused on ecommerce trading or performance marketing.
You’ll ideally have:
-
Proven experience in a Marketing Manager, Brand Marketing Manager, Brand Manager or similarly broad consumer marketing position.
-
Strong experience developing and delivering brand campaigns and marketing activations from idea through to execution.
-
Hands-on understanding of PR, communications and media relations, whether managing activity internally or working through PR agencies.
-
Experience building brands through organic social media, content and wider audience engagement.
-
Experience developing or managing brand partnerships, affiliate relationships, sponsorships or other external marketing collaborations.
-
Experience delivering events, exhibitions, experiential activity, product launches or offline campaigns.
-
Strong creative instincts with the ability to quickly identify campaign ideas and understand how they could work across multiple channels.
-
The organisation and planning skills to turn creative ideas into structured campaigns with clear objectives, budgets, timelines and deliverables.
-
Strong relationship-building skills and confidence working with agencies, partners, retailers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
-
A commercial mindset, with an understanding that successful brand marketing needs to contribute to customer acquisition, engagement and long-term growth.
-
Experience managing, mentoring or developing other marketers.
-
The confidence to operate in a growing business where not everything is already defined and where you’ll be expected to bring ideas rather than simply execute an existing plan.
Experience within consumer electronics, retail, FMCG, food and beverage, consumer goods or another product-led consumer environment would be useful, although industry background is less important than demonstrating strong, transferable brand marketing experience.
Design capability would be beneficial but isn’t essential, with in-house creative support already available.
Benefits
- Salary between £45,000 and £50,000, dependent on experience.
- Pension scheme.
- Employee discount programme.
- Employee Assistance Programme.
- On-site parking.
- Opportunity to join a growing consumer and ecommerce business with ambitious expansion plans.
- Significant opportunity to shape a newly created position and influence how the wider marketing function develops.
- Genuine scope for career development as the team and brand portfolio continue to grow.
Location & Working Pattern
The current expectation is for the successful person to be office-based five days per week initially, particularly while getting to know the brands, products and wider team.
There may be scope for greater flexibility longer term, potentially moving towards three days in the office for the right person and depending on the requirements of the role.
The position will also involve activity outside the office, including events, exhibitions, meetings with partners and other external brand activity.
Culture
This is an entrepreneurial and growing business that values people who bring ideas, take ownership and make things happen.
The successful person will combine creative energy with commercial thinking and strong execution. You’ll be someone who can spot an opportunity, develop the idea, bring the right people together and see it through rather than waiting for a fully defined brief.
The marketing function itself is evolving, so this role will suit someone comfortable with a degree of ambiguity. There will be established priorities, but also freedom to challenge how things are currently done and introduce new campaigns, partnerships and ways of building the brands.
The right person will have the opportunity to shape not just the campaigns they deliver, but how the role and wider marketing function evolve.
