About the Company - Marketplace Platform

Solis Recruitment is proud to partner with a high‑growth digital marketplace that is redefining how people discover and shop online. The business is investing heavily across Europe to build category‑led growth, with Fashion positioned as a strategic priority within the German market.

With a rapidly expanding user base and strong backing, the platform is focused on building profitable, scalable categories supported by strong leadership, clear operating models, and long‑term brand partnerships.

The Opportunity - Scaling a Category

This is a senior Category Leader role focused on building and scaling the Fashion category.

Rather than stepping into a fixed structure, you will define how the category is run. You will build the team, set the strategy, establish playbooks and processes, and own full commercial performance.

The role is high‑impact and highly visible, combining strategic ownership with hands‑on commercial decision‑making. You will work closely with brands and internal teams to ensure the Fashion category delivers sustainable growth, strong margins, and long‑term partner success.

Key Responsibilities of the Category Lead

Fashion Category Strategy & Commercial Ownership

  • Own the end‑to‑end P&L for the Fashion category, driving both topline growth and bottom‑line profitability.
  • Define and execute category strategies across sub‑categories, pricing architecture, promotions, margin optimisation, and brand mix.
  • Use data and market insight to continuously improve performance, retention, conversion, and lifetime value.

Brand Performance, Retention & Negotiation

  • Act as a strategic commercial partner to fashion brands, supporting long‑term success rather than short‑term wins.
  • Lead commercial negotiations aligned to growth, profitability, and retention objectives.
  • Work with brands on pricing, promotional planning, and range strategies to improve overall category performance.
  • Build retention strategies that encourage brands to invest, scale, and grow sustainably on the platform.

Building the Category Team & Playbooks

  • Build and lead the Fashion category team, hiring, mentoring, and developing high‑performing talent.
  • Create clear playbooks, processes, and operating frameworks for category management.
  • Enable the team with tools, KPIs, and decision frameworks that allow consistent execution at scale.

Livestreaming & Cross‑Functional Collaboration

  • Collaborate closely with product, marketing, operations, and enablement teams to deliver category objectives.
  • Help define how livestreaming and short‑form video commerce are used as commercial levers to drive conversion, engagement, and revenue within Fashion.
  • Ensure category strategies are translated into clear, repeatable execution across campaigns and initiatives.
  • Feed market and brand insight into internal roadmap and platform decisions.

To be successful in your application for Category Lead role in Germany you will:

  • 5+ years’ experience in fashion category leadership, commercial, or marketplace / eCommerce environments.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling categories, with ownership of revenue and margin outcomes.
  • Experience building, developing, and mentoring teams, not just managing individuals.
  • Strong commercial acumen across pricing, promotions, negotiations, and category economics.
  • Data‑driven mindset with the ability to translate insight into action.
  • Deep understanding of the German fashion market and digital commerce landscape.
  • Fluent German and English. Based in Munich or Düsseldorf, or open to relocating.
  • Understand how customer purchasing is evolving as eCommerce Marketplace becomes more competitive, and optimising approaches in line with current trends.

Nice to Have

  • Experience within marketplaces, platforms, or online multi‑brand fashion retailers.
  • Exposure to content‑led, social or livestreaming commerce models.
  • Experience operating in high‑growth, evolving environments.
